Poop problems and another fix.

So my kid did not poop for 45+ days. Dr's didn't seam real worried even though she had a hurt tummy and felt as thought she needed to pee all the time.  We first thought UTI, but in a young kid that's odd. (Insert Mom's worry of abuse) In the end we tried everything. Over the counter to special stuff "she won't even get past the 3 dose" (she finished the bottle with no poop). In the end we sat in a family members spa, drank miralax till the cows came home and pumped her full of liquids. 

We at one point stopped miralax because it gave her bad gas. It was bad enough to not be able to poop but then to have gas on top of it made it worse. 

Finally was educated by a great peds Dr. (Dr Shah) that even if it were so bad they'd have to admit her, they would only give high doses of oral miralax. 

We went home and I became aggressive.  My baby was hurting so bad she was now sitting in the bathroom most of the day screaming and crying. So, a dose of laxative 1200 x the amount suggested, along with miralax, spa, castrol oil and daily enemas and we got relief in 4 days. 

We now have to rehab the intestine with daily miralax for the next 6 months. 

New baby

I was talking to a new acquaintance who just had a baby (Jennifer C.) when I realized I had not written on new baby and dad jobs. Okay, this is almost a duplicate to my Dec post. ;). I'm tired. 

Guys, mom has done a lot of work. She is much more tired than you. The best thing I ever discovered was that if I could have my wife pump enough ahead of time, at least once during the night I could get up instead of her to give baby the bottle. 

This will score you points and get mom some needed rest. 

Poop problems

My kiddo is having big issues pooping. An X-ray revealed that she is "full of it."  Now we start the pro-poop ideas. 

At the beginning we thought it may be a UTI. Husbands, ask your wife if you don't know. We thought this because we were "trying" to pee every few minutes. We almost immediately started having kiddo drink cranberry juice to fight the UTI. This didn't work. When we found that she was "full of it" we thought, no way is picky eater drinking prune juice. Even mixed with other things. That's when we learned that PEAR juice is just as good. 

Miralax and pear juice to the rescue. You will find the pear juice in the baby food isle. 

Ice & Medicine

When you have a difficult tasting medication to take it can be hard to get your little ones to take their dose. A trick is you can have your kid suck on a piece of ice. This will numb the mouth and cut down on the bitterness soon to follow.

Plan ahead for things like the Tooth Fairy

Plan ahead for things like the tooth fairy. Have your money or special gift saved somewhere. My kids always seem to lose their teeth right before bed. My kids know mom and dad are the "Tooth Fairy" but we still have fun. My wife loves leaving $1 in origami. I leave 50 cent pieces.
